Company Profile

Since its foundation in 2004 Fluvia Holding B.V. (“Fluvia”) acquired Fluvia AG (Basel, Switzerland) being the first step into the European inland tanker shipping. Subsequently Fluvia has realized substantial growth in the European market for bulk liquid logistics. Fluvia’s strategy is to develop sizeable positions in European niche markets of the international “liquids in bulk” logistics industry.  Today Fluvia is a solid operator for the inland tanker shipping and storage of edible, mineral and chemical products on and alongside the European waterways. Fluvia operates a fleet of 50 inland tanker barges, 1600 tank containers, two liquid bulk terminals and a Tanker chartering unit. The company has offices in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Basel and Hamburg and counts 170 employees. Total sales in 2007 increased to EUR 26 million whilst the 2007 EBITDA was EUR 2.7 million. Inspired by the Swiss mountain peaks (“Piz”), Fluvia executes its strategy and business based on the principle of “Peak” performance.

Tank Storage and Toll Oil Refinery
Thru its joint venture Maastank (55%) Fluvia is engaged in the Rotterdam Tank Storage market for Vegoils and Oleochemicals. The core competences of Maastank are the storage and handling of specialty vegoils and oleochemicals. As the market for these product categories and related services are growing fast Maastank has embarked on an EUR 30 million expansion program that will double its present storage and handling capacity by 2012 to 65,000 m3. This will make Maastank the number three provider of Vegoil and Oleochemical tank storage services in the Rotterdam area. When exploring opportunities to expand existing services to its main customers, Fluvia and its joint venture partner Dekker, discovered the growing need for Toll Refinery Services for specialty vegoils, located near the distribution centres of the processing industry. This resulted in the formation of MaasRefinery which combines the know-how of a major customer (Remia), a global vegoil trader (Noble Grain) and dedicated vegoil logistics providers (Maastank, Fluvia and Dekker). This new venture will provide the Rotterdam based food industry with state of the art specialty oil refinery services.

Tank Containers
In September 2007 Fluvia acquired Peacock Tank Container Leasing which operates a fleet of approx. 1,600 tank containers with an average age of 6 years.  Peacock’s customer base consists of the large European chemical and food processing industry, logistics providers and Tank container operator companies. The majority of its contracts are long term whilst in close cooperation with Peacock’s customers also specialty equipment is provided. Peacock continues to broaden its present customer base by offering high quality and new tank containers to the producers and distributors of the chemical and food industry. To support this effort Peacock will increase its fleet by 100-200 new build tank containers annually.

Tanker Chartering
Being the only professional tanker broker domiciled in Belgium (Antwerp) Fluvia Tanker Chartering has carved its own niche in the global market of short- and deep-sea tanker transportation of liquids in bulk. As arranger of the logistics of bulk liquids the Fluvia tanker brokers work in close cooperation with their Fluvia colleagues of the storage, inland tanker shipping and tank containers business units.

River cruising
During 2007 Fluvia entered the fast growing market of River cruises through a 50 % ownership of a River Cruise vessel called ms Olympia. The vessel is chartered to European tour operators. Although it is early days to consider this activity as part of Fluvia’s core business it definitely is an interesting first step into a new European niche market.
